Utilizing Direct Hydrocarbon Indicators on 3D-Seismic Data to Prove the Existence of Hydrocarbon Accumulation in the Subtle Stratigraphic Trap in the Mishrif Reservoir at the Dujaila Oil Field, SE of Iraq

The current study aims to utilize the Direct Hydrocarbon Indicators technique identify presence of hydrocarbons in Carbonaceous Mishrif Formation (Late Cretaceous) from 3D seismic data (post-stack) integrated with available information two wells (Du-1 and Du-2). 3D-seismic survey was carried out 2010, covering 602.62 km2, at Dujaila oil field Maysan, SE Iraq. Distinct features for hydrocarbon indicators were diagnosed identified on both sections amplitude instantaneous phase, such as dim spots, flat phase polarity reversals. They helped direct detecting accumulation stratigraphic trap, region around well Du-1 upper part Formation, which is located a time (TWT) extending -1730 ms top underneath TWT -1775 that corresponded depth 2825 m 2887.5 m, respectively. Furthermore, based well-defined position spot, represents oil-water contact; it determine length column 56.8 vicinity productive Du-1. It close actual measured 49 m. As result, circular area radius about 3 km more suitable low-risk drilling future.
